Some good reads for an 18 yr old guy?

I haven't done much reading recently after what i considered a bad experience with the crucible. Sorry to all of you crucible lovers. I didn't really enjoy 1984 either. Ahaha. I'm a bit sick of fantasy too. So I'm not really into fantasy and religion at the moment. Romance perhaps? Anything that is intense, interesting, thought provoking and emotional. Any suggestions please? Ahaha. Its quite a criteria i know :P Lol. Thanks!!!
