"Poem to an oversea friend" Criticism, praise, advice appreciated!?

Wow! This is so beautiful, especially for a first draft (which I'm uming it is, since you're asking for advice). I really love the opening. The whole piece has wonderful imagery, and with perhaps a little tweaking, this could honestly be one of the best poems I've read on here. Good work!
