If I fire my lawyer after the court papers have already been fired. What happens?

My lawyer deesn't respond to my calls, he has someone else call me back. A year ago I saw him and told him my sons dad knows how to p a drug test and he said that they could request a hair follicle test. Now they say its urine test only on request. If I fire him now and the papers have been file but he has not been served. Can I still keep the paperwork that has been done.
